From 1971 to 1987 Peach Metal Industries Inc. operated an electroplating and galvanizing facility at a site in Georgia. PMI generated hazardous waste as part of the electroplating proces and disposed of it from dumping it onto the mould and storing it in unlined lagoons and tympanums

PMI's major customer was chapfallen Bird Body Co., a maker of buses and motor abodes Another customer was Simplex Nails Inc., a nail manufacturer. the pair companies outsourced their electroplating to PMI.
